FIRST OF ITS KIND FOR THE KINGSTON BUTTER FACTORY!
Do you want to learn an instrument, singing and connect with others in a supportive environment?
DEAI is proud to announce its groundbreaking music workshop series designed for individuals with disabilities and neurodiverse conditions.
This series, (running over 6 months) aims to equip participants with fundamental/essential music skills, knowledge and confidence under the guidance of industry music professionals.
WORKSHOP DETAILS (Adolescents & Adults)
The program provides a welcoming and inclusive setting for individuals to delve into the three basic instruments (guitar, drums & vocals) for individuals, developing their skills at their own pace in a comfortable environment.
These unique workshops emphasise nurturing the inner performer within each participant through a blend of fun music training exercises and practical live-stage performances.
Workshop modules enhance musical abilities and foster social interactions, communication skills, teamwork dynamics, spatial awareness, and physical coordination. Each of the six modules is customised to align with the interests and passions of the participants.

WORKSHOP COMPLETION (Series 2)
A concert featuring the participants with the SPEKTRUM Band will be held for friends and family to observe and commemorate the advancements achieved by participants in refining their instrument performance and social abilities. A certificate of workshop completion will also be delivered to the participants.

Join us with our 3rd year of inclusive music workshops—a welcoming, supportive space where people living with disability can explore instruments, learn new skills, and connectthrough the joy of music.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or have some basic understanding of either guitar,drums or singing, we’ll be right there with you—teaching, jamming, and having fun in your own music community.
These unique workshops are designed for individuals that have dexterity to play instruments or use their voice.
We commence TUESDAY 15th July 2025, this workshops series will equip participants with fundamental/ essential music instzrument skills, knowledge and confidence under the guidance of industry professionals

➡️ Warren Thomas
DEAI co-founder & Guitar/Bass Coach
Warren is the front man for DEAI band ‘Spektrum’. As a high-functioning autistic musician, he forms strong connections with neurodivergent and disability communities, providing music mentoring and drawing on three decades of experience performing and touring throughout Australia.
He frequently appeared at major corporate fundraising events for ‘Endeavour Foundation’ and ‘Multicap QLD’ with his band ‘The Dynamics’. Warren has also performed many years of Morning Melody Shows for disability communities at venues such as Beaudesert RSL, Brothers Leagues Club and Aspley Leagues Club.
➡️ Stephan Van Der Mer
DEAI co-founder, GM & Audio Visual Coach
Stephan brings to DEAI, from his own company (Vula Music), world standard experience in music production.
He started as a musician and songwriter, and was hired for the natural history wild life film Lions of the Kalahari, to which he won best music score at the IWFF awards.
He has also worked for * National Geographic, * Provision Film Productions * SABC TV series, Ecovision * NEMISA, National Electronic Media Institute of South Africa (Created by Nelson Mandela for skill development of disadvantaged individuals)
➡️ Elise Odonnell-Meyer
Vocal Coach [Assoc.Dip.Mus.Jazz.]
Elise is a principal Registered Music Therapist (RMT) and founder of Hope and Harmony Music Therapy.
After completing a Bachelor of Music with First Class in her Honours year and a Master of Music Therapy from the University of Melbourne, she worked in both Victoria and Queensland as an RMT with a diverse range of individuals in a wide variety of settings

Drum & Percussion Coach
Randal graduated in Jazz Studies from the Queensland Conservatorium and studied classical percussion privately with Alan Cumberland.
With more than 35 years of teaching experience, Randal has led percussion programs at various schools and currently teaches for Education Queensland.
His professional career spans over 20 years, performing with groups like the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and collaborating with numerous artists and shows. He frequently works as a freelance drummer and percussionist for cabaret, corporate, and hospitality events both locally and internationally.
